Windsurfing - Experience Hatteras Winds!
The winds of Hatteras are famous throughout the world. Thousands have journeyed here to experience their force and play in their fury. Windsurfers worldwide consider Cape Hatteras, which juts over 40 miles into the Atlantic, to be one of the top locations surpassed only maybe, just maybe, by Hawaii's Maui and Oregon's The Gorge.

But Hatteras windsurfing is not just for experts. The shallow inter-sounds and bays with smooth sandy bottoms and typically flat surfaces provide the beginner with a safe and pleasurable adventure.

For the experts, the ocean's steep waves and high winds offer a playground for aerial acrobatics and great wave sailing.
Spring and fall typically provide the best steady winds for windsurfing on Hatteras Island. In fact, in the springtime, there are so many Canadians in town that French seems to be the language of the day. But it seems that something can be found to ride anytime because Hatteras is one of the windiest places in the world. Although high winds occur frequently there are also light days for those who choose to "ghost" around the sound, enjoying the beauty, and viewing the wonder of the waters of coastal North Carolina.

Surfing - Catch a Hatteras Wave
Rising from their long journey in the Atlantic, and building steep faces and white creamy tops, are some of the best waves along the Atlantic seaboard. Surfers, body surfers, boogey boarders and children with rafts ride these faces and experience the thrill of riding the wild surf.

One of the fortunate geographic features of Hatteras Island is its elbow shape. When the wind is on shore on one side, it is usually offshore on the other. So when you are standing at the foot of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the wave magnet doesn't seem to be working and the wind is terrible sideshore, just maybe the swell will be hitting and the wind will be offshore on the beaches in Frisco or Hatteras Village. Got any wax, dude?

Charter Boat and Surf Fishing - A Wealth Of Fishing Opportunities on Hatteras Island
In the waters that surround North Carolina's barrier islands, a wealth of sea life as diverse as anywhere else in the world awaits your discovery. Trout flourish in Pamlico Sound, red drum feed in the Atlantic surf and the greatest sport fishes - marlin, tuna, dolphin, and sailfish teem in our off shore waters. To experience this pleasure of fishing and viewing, you need only to chart a course for our shores.

Hatteras Island charter boat fleets provide easy access to deep-sea game fish and by simply walking out your door to the beach, you can cast a line into the sea to master its bounty.

When the waters cool in the fall of the year, fish from the inter-waters and southern coast migrate in great schools within casting distance of Hatteras Island shores. Frequently, you will see huge schools of predatory game fish swirl in the surf and feed upon smaller fish.

Large head boats run daily during warm seasons out of both ocean inlets and in Pamlico Sound, too. Hatteras Island surf fishing, whether for trophy drum in the spring, sleek Spanish mackerel in summer, big bluefish in the fall, or schooling striped bass in winter, will excite anyone, expert or novice. Be sure and visit the marinas, where dockmasters will gladly explain how to get off the dock and onto the water and educate you how easy it really is. Don't miss the day's catches being unloaded every day between 3 and 5 p.m. right to your feet at the marinas in Hatteras Village.

Hatteras Island offers three fishing piers that stretch into the Atlantic where one can enjoy peaceful live-bait fishing for larger game fish or bottom fishing for such great tasting fare as sea mullet, spot and croaker. The pier manager and the crew will be happy to answer your questions.

Behind the beaches, a wealth of unexplored areas in shallow Pamlico Sound await anyone who enjoys wading or fishing from a small boat. A comprehensive list of the possibilities that await anglers along the Outer Banks is endless. Regardless of where anglers prefer to fish and which species they prefer to catch, there's an angling adventure in your reach anytime of the year.

Life is abundant in the waters offshore. Life can be abundant for you also. Isle Escape provides the space and comfort that fishermen and women require after long days of dragging in fish after fish. If you love fishing and you love the ocean, we are simply the place for you. Those who have already sampled the area's waters will testify to the truth - it is easy to get hooked on Hatteras fishing.
